Silk Looming

One of the most prized commodities in the old world before the industrial revolution, the art of silk looming was understandably a fiercely guarded secret.

Now you can take a look at the entire process from farming the silk, weaving the fibre and finally looming your own piece of silk fabric! This is not just a tour where you just snap pictures, you actually get to create your own patterns on a silk loom!

Chug on!

Start off by checking out the farm where little silk worms weave their wonders! Then try your hand at separating the silk from the worms with a bowl of water.

The resulting silk fibres will then be weaved into lines of silk threads with a wheel and finally the complicated looking loom will be set up for you to create your own little silk masterpiece!
