Local Community Initiatives:

  • Skills development program for poor farmers to learn how to farm mushrooms in order to obtain higher yields from their land.
  • Organic mushroom farming for environment & health

These entrepreneurs are winners of a Gazaab Social Ventures business competition and are recipients of an equity investment from Gazaab Social Ventures. They will repay a percentage of their profits every business cycle where we can then recycle the money and re-invest in entrepreneurs in the next competition, establishing a sustainable economic development cycle based on entrepreneurship.

Sita Tamang

Candle-maker

An exceptionally hardworking individual, Sita had the highest number of transactions done while playing the Gazaab Game.

Making each candle for 4Rs & selling for 5Rs, Sita started with just 5 candles with the 20Rs given.   At the end however, she has made & sold more than 200, making the same amount in profits. While she didn't win, which is determined by amount of profits, she definitely wins the most hardworking participant award.

Starting her candlemaking business for less than 5,000Rs a few years ago, her hardwork has paid off and she is now at a stage where she requires expansion capital to improve quality & variety, something Gazaab can help with.

Local Community Initiatives:

  • Support the local bee industry with specialization in the production of bee wax
  •  Support unemployed women in her community with training and employment.
  •  Set up a vocational school for women in her community so that they can stand on their own two feet.
